Fees & Policies
Rooted Therapy and Wellness Practice is located in Calgary, Alberta for in person sessions, and is able to provide virtual therapy to any resident of Alberta. Clients will complete an intake assessment with their therapist during their first 1-2 sessions (90 minute initial session is recommended to complete the intake) and will then discuss next steps forward in treatment. This will be discussed with both the guidance of the therapist, but also with the client’s goals and comfort levels at the forefront.
The therapist will suggest a therapy schedule—weekly, biweekly, or monthly—that best supports your needs. Processing trauma may bring up additional issues, which should be discussed with the therapist as they arise.
Fees
60 minute session $220
90 minute session $330
Many extended health benefit plans (private or group benefits) provide full or partial reimbursement for registered social workers (RSW). Please review your policy in advance to ensure you receive this benefit. A detailed receipt will be provided for your submission for reimbursement.
Fees may be paid via cash, e-transfer and credit card. An invoice will be sent following each session, and a receipt will be sent once payment is received. Please retain these for your records, to submit to your insurance or income tax purposes.
We are currently offering direct billing for several major insurance companies, including Blue Cross, Canada Life, Manulife, Desjardins, Geneva, Claimsecure, Johnston Group, and others. Please check for direct billing for your insurance company; clients will need to submit receipts to their insurance for reimbursement for any other insurance providers.
Sessions can be booked online via Jane or through email.
Cancellation Policy
Emergencies happen to all of us, and often through no fault of our own. If you are unable to make a scheduled appointment, we will do our best to be flexible, however we require 48 hours notice for any cancellations, in order to offer the time slot to another client. No-show appointments or late cancellations will be charged the full session fee.
Confidentiality and Privacy Policy
The information you share during therapy is sensitive and valuable and will be considered confidential by your therapist. In a few instances, confidentiality must be broken, for example, if a client shares that they are at risk of harming themselves or others, if they disclose any abuse or neglect being perpetrated against another person, or if subpoenaed by court. Clients may also consent to share specific information if needed. Your therapist will not confirm any personal details or information about the client in any other circumstance.
FAQs
Do you provide any sliding scale services?
At this time, I am able to consider clients who are unable to afford the full fee for therapy on a case-by-case basis. I also partner with the Breaking Free Foundation, who provides grants for trauma therapy (www.breakingfreefoundation.ca). You can apply for this grant on their website.
How long does it take for therapy to work?
The short answer is, it just depends. It depends on a number of different factors, including your goals, the complexity of the issues you are addressing, how consistently you are able to attend sessions. Some people may notice improvements after a few sessions, and for others it may take longer.
When I utilize Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), people often notice improvements fairly rapid, an often in as little as 3-5 sessions.
What can I expect during my first session?
During the first session I will explain the limits of confidentiality, what I am able to offer you as a therapist and we will discuss other administrative details like payment, insurance and booking. I will assess your current and historical concerns regarding your mental health and begin to conceptualize what treatment will look like moving forward. Your treatment plan will be collaborative and address your needs and concerns, always.
What do i need to do to make therapy work?
Come in with an open mind, ask questions, and stick with it. Change will not happen overnight, but we can see changes that can add up quickly if you are consistent and committed to making positive changes in your life. Therapy works best when you actively engage in the process, which includes setting goals, being open and honest, completing homework, and continuing to attend appointments regularly.
